2022 Unreal Open Day

The Unreal Open Day 2022 was hosted by Epic in the form of an offline event combined with online live streaming. I am very happy to have attended the offline Unreal Open Day event this year. I recorded an online technical presentation and also participated in the live event in Shanghai. I am honored to have once again received the Outstanding Community Contributor award granted by Epic, which is both recognition and motivation for me. I look forward to the UE tech community continuing to grow and becoming the most vibrant game developer community. This article serves as a simple record, organizing the materials from UOD 2022, summarizing my participation in UOD, my presentation PPT, and related materials, as well as some photos taken at the UOD live event.

Event records of Unreal Open Day 2022:

In addition to the main venue lasting for two days, there were also four technical sub-venues focusing on games, media and entertainment, automotive, architecture, and simulation. This reflects that the current development trend of UE is not limited to the gaming sector, but also involves points of focus in interactive entertainment, automotive and construction industries, virtual simulation, and so on.

In the game sub-venue, I recorded a technical presentation on “The Principles and Implementation of UE Hot Reload”. It mainly introduced the underlying principles and optimization ideas for implementing UE hot reload, as well as optimization plans for resource management in projects.

During the UOD in 2020, I also gave a technical presentation on hot reload. The content this time is a supplementary and optimized share of the previous implementation, as well as the best engineering practices in the past two years regarding my optimizations in hot reload and resource management.

Regarding the development of the UE community, I am very grateful for Epic Games’ recognition of me. This is the second time I have received this award. Over the years, I have witnessed the development of the community, and the Unreal development ecosystem has continued to improve. Many developers have shared their development experiences. The development of the community depends on the collective efforts of every developer, and I also thank Unreal China for its support of the community.

The accumulation of technology requires a continuous process of input and output. How to share one’s research results so that others can avoid pitfalls is the essence of community development. Only in an active community environment can the development ecology progress rapidly. At the same time, I would also like to thank my family for their support; without their support, I would not have been able to achieve this.
